Shipping

Please plan ahead! The shipping guidelines of both UPS and USPS are not accurate. They are “best case scenarios”. Please order 2-3 weeks *before* you think you’ll need more hay. USPS does not consider a box lost for a full 30 days. Please contact your shipper if your box is delayed - as long as you have a tracking number, we do not have additional information on where your box is. We will not be replacing boxes before 14 days (2 weeks) after the expected delivery date for UPS shipped boxes, and 30 days after the expected delivery date for USPS shipped boxes. Again, please plan ahead!

Mother Nature

One Ear Up has always been committed to bringing your rabbits organic, “fresh from the field” hay. It is completely free of pesticides, herbicides and monocultures, but it is loaded with good taste and optimal nutrition. This hay is not grown in a sterile warehouse under meticulous conditions. With a hay that is grown outside, in the elements, and dried in the sun, you’ll find some unexpected things. A grasshopper. A spider’s leg. A feather. A field weed or two. Or four. These are all normal, natural things that nurture the soil, and will not cause harm to your rabbit. Occasionally a piece of baling twine will find it’s way into a box, we can’t blame Mother Nature for that one! If there is anything you’re unsure about, just remove it.

About consistency: growing and harvesting hay that has consistent characteristics can be tricky. Since Mother Nature’s involvement is unavoidable, hay can vary from bale to bale, field to field, and most notably, season to season. Sometimes it’s necessary for us to switch from one harvest to another as inventory ebbs and flows. We do try to keep all of our blends as consistent as possible, but we do have to make changes sometimes. We will always guarantee the quality of our hay, but more finicky rabbits may need to test a sampler from time to time to keep up with changes in inventory.

RHDV

As of today, 10/08/21, biologists nor exotics vets have not reported any outbreaks in our area. The “good” news for our customers is that our rabbits eat all the same hay as yours do, so our bunnies are constantly monitoring our inventory of hay for quality control. Because they eat the same hay, we’ll know of any problems long before it ever leaves One Ear Up, and long before it is sold and shipped. We will continue to closely monitor the situation.
